The prominent international magazines Condé Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure and Vogue recognized Panama as one of the best destinations to visit during 2022.
Condé Nast Traveler ranked the country among the 22 places to visit this year and suggested to travelers to know the biodiversity of the jungles and beaches of the isthmus; specifically mentioning Bocas del Toro as a mandatory stop.
On the other hand, Travel & Leisure magazine included Panama among the 50 ideal places to visit and refers to the best destinations to visit around the world for those looking to get out of the typical “resort vacation mode” and enter an open world of exploration and adventure.
As part of the entry requirements before traveling to Panama, all visitors must complete and present to the airline their Affidavit of Health in physical or digital form.
In addition, the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country was eliminated for those who present their complete vaccination card or digital certificate endorsed by WHO, EMA and FDA.
It is important that as of January 28th, 2022, the complete vaccination schedule will be recognized as long as the traveler has received 3 (three) doses; with the exception of the Janssen vaccine from Johnson & Johnson, for which the application of 2 (two) doses is considered a complete schedule.
Travelers who are not vaccinated or partially vaccinated (with an incomplete vaccination schedule) must present a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test to enter the country. It must be a maximum of 72 hours old at the time of arrival in Panama.
If they do not present a test within the established period, must take a rapid test at the Tocumen International Airport, which will be paid by the traveler, prior to passing through migration (Value USD $50).
Canadian airlines Transat and Sunwing, which operate at the Scarlett Martínez International Airport (Rio Hato), plan to offer two weekly flights, with tourists from the markets of Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto, among other Canadian cities.
The reactivation of these charter flights is the result of the tourism promotion carried out by the National Government, through the Tourism Authority of Panama, aimed at the recovery of the country’s economy.
Panama ranks first on the list of the world’s best places to retire, according to International Living’s annual Global Retirement Index.
The country seized this position thanks to its geographical location and excellent climate, free of hurricanes. It also stood out for being the Hub of the Americas and its ease of travel from different parts of the world. Added in the election to have the world-famous Panama Canal, and the important infrastructure works and the fact of being bathed by two oceans were also mentioned.
The “Indigenous Panama” initiative is the tourist circuit that is developed as part of the heritage routes proposed in the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan of the Tourism Authority of Panama, which currently has 8 priority destinations under execution
